A family dairy in Wolverine, Michigan
C & K Farms was started in 2021 by Carey and Katelyn Bragg in Wolverine, Michigan. Both are third-generation farmers from northern Michigan — Katelyn's grandfather ran a small dairy in Boyne City for many years, so you could say dairy farming runs in their blood. They began with dairy goats and chickens, but neither of them can digest A1 milk, so they went looking for an A2/A2 dairy cow. Their first, Peanut Butter, arrived in 2024, and the herdshare grew from there. For Carey and Katelyn this is not a job but a way of life.
How do we farm?
We are not certified organic. Regenerative farming is not just a buzz word here — Carey and Katelyn are working to reclaim farmland that got overgrown from decades of abandonment, and the produce we grow is never sprayed.
Reclaiming abandoned farmland
Much of this ground sat abandoned for decades and grew over. We are clearing it and bringing it back into production rather than farming the easy acres.
Pasture first, hay and silage in winter
Our cows are out on natural grass pasture as much as possible. When pasture is not available, such as during winter, we feed a mixture of hay and silage.
A2/A2 cows, non-GMO grain at milking
Every cow in our herd is A2/A2. At milking time they get non-GMO grain and free choice minerals. Many people who can only drink goats milk can drink ours.
